Or at least in some aspects of it. The Brazilian specialist magazine Meio & Mensagem has a fascinating summary of a recent Reuters Foundation / Oxford University / YouGov study on media habits worldwide. (The article is in Portuguese).

Brazil is in third place overall as the country where people check every day for the latest news (Japan and Denmark are slightly ahead of it — the study was done before the latest disturbances). Over half of Brazilians say that the Internet is the most important way of getting the news. Sixty percent of Brazilians say that they would pay to get the news online — by far the highest figure in the world (compared to only nine percent of Germans or Americans).
